Middle of Labor Day Weekend

It's only Saturday night and I'm already very tired from all the activities happening around Wheeling. Last night I participated in a few of the 1st Friday events in the Centre Market Area. I have 3 photos hanging in the Artworks Around Town as an emerging artist and they had a Gallery Hop. Lots of free food. Then I went up the block to the 1st Presbyterian Church to watch my friends Cabin Fever perform some good old Bluegrass.

Then today I showed up at 8:00 am at the Capitol Theatre with about another 80 volunteers to help get everything cleaned up for its re-opening on Sept. 23rd. 2400 free tickets will be issued for that night through Wesbanco Arena. Details to come for this giveaway. Denny Magruder gave us a full tour of the Capitol, about 6 levels with too many steps to count. Saw one of the anchor bolts for the Suspension Bridge down in the lowest basement of the Theatre. The Bowling Alley where I used to bowl in the 60's is now an empty room. Dressing rooms were getting a fresh coat of paint. The Ballroom where I attended teen dances is a big mess since it was turned into offices. Memorabilia was everywhere up there.

Then I went to the Regatta for a little while and heard some of the enertainment. This is the 1st year they have had entertainment at the Regatta.

Tomorrow I plan to go see some of the boats race at the Regatta, then go to Oglebay Park for Ft. Henry Days and the Wood Carvers show at the Pine Room, and the fiinish it off with the Symphony and fireworks. Who could ask for anything more?

Imay rest up on Labor Day or go up to the Super Car Show at Cabelas Distribution Center at the Highlands. It depends on how my body feels.
