Labor Day Weekend in Wheeling

For a small city , Wheeling WV sure has a lot of things going on at any one time. Here's a partial list of things to do this weekend:



Regatta at the Waterfront Saturday and Sunday with live entertainment and 50 powerboats doing their thing on the river


The Wheeling Symphony in a free concert on Sunday night followed by Fireworks at the Oglebay Park Amphitheater. Joe Negri is their special guest



1st Friday events in downtown Wheeling and the Centre Wheeling Market area on Friday evening until 9:00 pm



Chubby Checker appearing at the Wheeling Downs Casino tonight (Thursday)



Live show on Friday night at the Victoria Theater with Memories of Elvis and my friend, Yodeling Dick Brooks, performing. Yodeling Dick can also be found every Wednesday from 6-9 pm at Tiki's Bar & Grill at 12th & Market St in downtown Wheeling



The new and revised Wheeling Jamboree on Saturday night at the Victoria Theater



Gallery Hop on Friday night at Artworks Around Town featuring emerging artists, including yours truly with some pictures hanging on the walls



Community cleanup on Friday and Saturday at the Capitol Theatre so that it can be reopened on September 23rd for the 1st time in 5 years



5 football games on Saturday at Wheeling Island stadium in the Wheeling Hospital Rally in the Valley. There will be teams coming from Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Akron as well as some of the best local teams taking part.


Fort Henry Days at Oglebay Park's Camp Russell on Saturday and Sunday. This includes reenactments of the battles between the Indians and the early settlers of Wheeling.
